The Yorkshire Terrier is a great lap dog.  They would prefer to lounge around all day on your lap if you let them.  They make a wonderful companion and they are very loyal.  They have a spunky side to them but they obide very well.  The Yorkshire Terrier is a very independent breed and demands respect of their territory.

The Yorkshire Terrier catches on very quickly so the training process isn’t too difficult.  They do need consistency and routine to follow so that they don’t forget everything that you taught them.  They are an intelligent breed so they do keep you on your toes.  The Yorkshire Terrier loves to play but doesn’t require too much activity.   They are high maintenance when it comes to their grooming needs.  They have a longer coat so they need to be brushed daily and trimmed often.  It’s important to clean their eyes daily so that they don’t become tear stained.

The Yorkshire Terrier is expected to be about 7lbs.  They have a life expectancy of up to 15 yrs.  They do have a more sensitive stomache so it’s important to stick to their steady diet.  They are also prone to tooth decay so cleaning their teeth often is very important as well.

Keeping Your Dog Healthy

Filed under: Dog Breeds, Dog Health, Dogs — shae @ 3:30 pm

It’s important to understand the dog breed you have so that you know what kind of diseases are common amongst their kind. That way it will be much easier to keep them healthy. They need the proper nutrition, a good exercise routine and lots of love and affection. It’s also not a bad idea to buy them toys to chew on and play with while you are not at home. This keeps your dogs mind stimulated and you favorite shoes from getting chewed up.

The German Pinscher is a smaller breed.  They grow to be about 30-40 lbs and usually no taller than 20 inches.  They have a life expectancy of up to 14 years.   They love to chase anything that moves so they need to have a secured back yard.   This German Pinscher is known to be a bit stubborn.  You must teach them that they are not in charge.  They try rule the house as if it’s their’s.  They take very well to obedience training so that can help with “The Top Dog” syndrome.
