Long Haired cats are known for their beauty and long silky coats.  They are more high maintenance then a short hair cat but it’s all worth it.  The Angora was the first long haired cat breed discovered.  They originated in Europe in the 16th Century.  The Angora was named after a Turkish city called Angora.

Long Haired Cats

Many long haired cats are known for their sweet dispositions.  They tend to be very passive so they do best as indoor cats and that protects them from any predators on the outside.

Grooming your long haired cat can be somewhat of a labor intensive experience.  As you know, most cats don’t like to be messed with especially when it comes to getting wet.  It’s good to know that long haired cats don’t shed anymore than short haired cats.  The long haired cat breeds have such a long coat which makes it almost impossible to properly clean themselves, that’s where you come in.  They need to be brushed almost every day or they may end up with matted fur and that’s no fun for either one of you, trust me.
